Days before Holi mela (Dakor Falgun Purnima fair), when the temple city witnesses an outpour of devotees, a lapse has been reported at the end of authorities in Dakor.

Dakor is a small but prominent city, home to the deity Ranchhodrai in the Kheda district.

On Mar 8, on the occasion of Shivratri, the chief minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, inaugurated the Dakor Bridge. However, the bridge was inaugurated while most of the construction work remained pending.

Despite 18 months being given to complete the bridge, the contractor, Mangalya Builders, took as long as 32 months to finish the work. The service road on both sides of the bridge has not yet been constructed. 

Even though the work was not completed by the deadline, the contractor has not faced any penalties.

Commuters have been suffering for the last two years due to the work on this bridge as traffic woes continued. Several accidents have also reportedly occurred in this stretch. 

The citizens got the bridge, but at what cost? According to reports, the service road along with the bridge is yet to be constructed.
