Surat’s Vesu police on Mar 5 questioned Sunrisers Hyderabad (an Indian Premier League franchise) and Punjab’s cricketer for the Ranji Trophy, Abhishek Sharma, relating to the Surat-based model, fashion designer, and event manager Tanya Singh’s suicide case.

The police conducted a four to five-hour-long marathon questioning of the cricketer. His statement was recorded by assistant commissioner of police (ACP) VR Malhotra and PI Digvijaysinh Barad.

However, the reason behind the ex-couple separating and distancing from each other is yet to be established, despite Sharma’s thorough questioning from 11.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After her chilling suicide on Feb 19, Singh’s friends claimed that she was going through a depressive phase after the couple broke up.

Upon questioning her family members, they mentioned that Singh was not going through depression.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the couple had reportedly broken up a year ago and were also engaged in frequent fights.

After learning of her suicide, Vesu police showed up at the scene and found the dead body still wearing earpods. Speculations are made over this revelation, as the model could be in conversation with someone in her final moments.

This revelation drew the police towards scrutinising the deceased’s call details and interrogating the people she was in contact with within the last few days. This led the police to the cricketer.

A selfie of the two was also found on Singh’s phone.
