Congress Lok Sabha candidates in Gujarat

Gujarat’s battleground for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has been finalised as the Congress high command announced on Apr 13 the names of the remaining four Lok Sabha and five assembly bye election candidates.

Keeping the ongoing criticism from the Kshatriya community against BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) union minister Parshottam Rupala in mind, Congress has devised a strategy to field Patidar youth leader Paresh Dhanani from Rajkot.

As several of its leaders defected to the saffron faction in the build-up to the elections, Congress has finally found a candidate for its Ahmedabad East constituency.

The Congress has given the ticket to the party’s Ahmedabad chief and former MLA, Himmatsinh Patel.

Meanwhile, their spokesperson, Naishadh Desai, has been chosen to face the BJP’s state president, CR Patil, in Navsari.

Subsequently, Congress decided to fight the election by choosing a young Thakor face instead of a Patel in Mehsana. The responsibility of the Mehsana Congress committee has been entrusted to Ramji Thakor.

The party has also decided to give chances to several newcomers.

Dinesh Patel In Vijapur, Raju Odedara in Porbandar, Hari Kansagara in Manavadar, Kanu Gohil in Waghodia, and Mahendrasinh Parmar in Khambhat received the ticket.
