Congress alleges ‘Vote Chori’ in Gujarat, shares proof

The Gujarat Congress has alleged large-scale ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) by the BJP. State Congress president Amit Chavda directly accused BJP’s state president C R Patil of orchestrating the fraud.
Addressing a press conference, Chavda claimed that in the Choryasi Assembly constituency, a total of 6,09,592 voters are registered. Out of the 40% of the list were verified (over 2,40,000 voters), in which Congress found more than 30,000 duplicate and suspicious entries. Based on this sample, the party estimates that over 75,000 duplicate voters could be present in the constituency’s voter roll.
Chavda alleged that the voter list was obtained from a BJP stronghold and revealed five ways in which ‘vote chori’ can happen
One person voted twice.
Creating new voter IDs by slightly changing the spelling of names.
Registering new voters by altering EPIC numbers.
Submitting duplicate entries in different languages.
Registering voters with changed addresses.
Based on Choryasi’s figures, Congress has estimated that up to 62 lakh fake voters may exist across Gujarat. The party termed it a ‘conspiracy to finish democracy’, adding that it proves the slogan ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai.’
To intensify its campaign, Congress will organise a ‘Voter Adhikar Jan Sabha’ on Sunday outside collector offices across the state. Leaders from across Gujarat will participate to expose the vote thieves.
Congress clarified that this fight is not about winning or losing elections, but about saving democracy and protecting constitutional rights.
The party has invited the Election Commission to discuss the issue and accused the BJP of trying to divert attention by demanding affidavits. Meanwhile, Congress has announced that it will launch a door-to-door verification drive of voter lists in the coming days.
