Coast Guard helicopter makes emergency landing near Porbandar, three crew members missing

Two Indian Coast Guard (ICG) pilots and a crew member were missing as Indian Coast Guard’s HAL Dhruv helicopter, working with flood-related rescue operations in Gujarat, had to make an emergency landing and ditched into the sea on Sept 2 near Porbandar.

Officials close to the development said that a diver was rescued after an emergency landing. But three others are still missing.

ICG has deployed four ships and two aircraft in flood related operations in Gujarat, and has saved the lives of 67 people.

The wreckage of the helicopter has been found during the search operation. The incident took place when the helicopter was approaching a ship. The ICG has currently deployed four vessels in the search operation.

The reason for the emergency landing of the helicopter is not yet known.
