More than 250 Indians rescued from Cambodia’s job scam: MEA

In a major international rescue, more than 250 Indians trapped in a major scam in Cambodia have been safely brought back to India.

As per reports, they had been lured to Cambodia with a promise of employment but on landing there, were forced into operating a large-scale scam.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, on Mar 30, said, “Indians there were forced to work in a cybercrime scam. Of the 250 Indians, 75 have been successfully brought back to India in the last three months. We have seen media reports about Indian nationals trapped in Cambodia. The Indian Embassy in Cambodia is taking cognizance of the complaints of Indian nationals.”

Jaiswal added, “These Indians were trapped by agents and sent to Cambodia with the promise of jobs.”

“There are also apprehensions that some other Indian nationals are trapped. Action is being taken over this,” he added.
