In a major anti corruption operation, the Gujarat Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a CGST superintendent and a tax consultant red handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20 lakh. Both accused have been arrested.

The main accused, CGST superintendent Mukesh Kumar, had demanded a bribe of ₹25 lakh from a complainant. He promised not to take strict action in a GST case related to non payment and wrong billing.

After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹20 lakh. The complainant did not want to pay the bribe and reported the matter to the ACB. Acting on the complaint, ACB officials planned a trap. Kumar instructed the complainant to give the money to a tax consultant named Akash Kaloliya. The trap was set near the Creative Complex behind the ST bus station in Rajkot.

As soon as Kaloliya accepted the ₹20 lakh from the complainant, the ACB team immediately caught him. Soon after, Kumar was also arrested. The police have registered a case against both accused and started further investigation.
