Businessman alleges ₹19.9 lakh theft from Vasna bungalow during family trip

A businessman from Ahmedabad's Vasna area has lodged a police complaint after allegedly discovering that cash and gold ornaments worth nearly ₹19.9 lakh were stolen from his bungalow while he and his family were away attending their daughter's convocation ceremony and a religious pilgrimage.

The Vasna Police have registered a case against an unidentified accused and launched an investigation into the alleged house-breaking and theft.

The complainant, Nileshbhai Hiralal Kubadia (47), runs an orthopaedic implant manufacturing and supply business, Paswa Corporation, on Pirana Road.

According to the complaint, Kubadia, his wife Rinaben and their three children left their residence on June 20 to attend their daughter's convocation ceremony at IIT Gandhinagar.

Following the event, the family travelled to Palitana for a religious visit and stayed at a Jain pilgrims' accommodation.

Friend Notices Signs of Break-In

On the morning of June 21, Kubadia's friend, Bipin Chavda, allegedly noticed signs suggesting that the bungalow may have been broken into.

When he was unable to contact Kubadia directly, he informed the family, prompting Kubadia to request his sister-in-law, who lives in South Bopal, to visit the residence and check the premises.

The family immediately cut short their trip and returned to Ahmedabad.

Upon reaching home, the family allegedly discovered that ₹17.70 lakh in cash kept inside a glass cupboard in the bathroom attached to a first-floor bedroom was missing.

The complainant further alleged that the following gold ornaments had also been stolen:

A gold chain weighing approximately 8 grams, valued at around ₹1 lakh

A gold bracelet weighing approximately 10 grams, valued at around ₹1.20 lakh

The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at ₹19.90 lakh.

Investigators believe the theft occurred between the afternoon of June 20 and June 21.

Police suspect the accused may have either broken the lock of the bungalow or gained entry using a duplicate key before fleeing with the cash and valuables.

After conducting a detailed assessment of the missing property, Kubadia and his wife formally lodged a complaint with Vasna Police on June 24.

Police have registered a case of house-breaking and theft against an unidentified person.

Investigators are expected to examine CCTV footage from nearby residences and commercial establishments, along with forensic evidence collected from the bungalow, to identify those responsible for the theft.

Further investigation is underway.
