BJP’s Jawahar Chavda writes to PM, accuses Kirit Patel of ‘lust for power’

Updated: Sep 17th, 2024

Former state minister and BJP leader Jawahar Chavda today wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pointing out the ‘height of lust for power’ in the party ranks, saying that it breaks the ‘one person, one post, three years’ rule of the saffron party.

In his letter, Chavda begins by stating how Junagadh is an exception to the rule. “This is the story of nine years of agony in Junagadh  city. Our disciplined party has some rules (One person, one post, three years tenure etc). These rules are equally applicable to every worker or office bearer, but Junagadh is an exception.”

Pointing out BJP’s Kirit Patel’s tenure at the office for nine years, he alleged that Patel “has remained in the position and misused it to get other positions”.

The letter from Chavda mentioned, “He (Patel) enjoys three positions at the same time, 1. district president 2. president in a bank and 3. president in the marketing yard.”

The letter also claims that Patel enjoyed the presidency in the yard of three talukas of two districts, 1. Talala 2. Visavadar and 3. Junagadh.

“This may be the first time in India that such acts have taken place, with mutual transfer of the presidency. Holding so many positions is the height of power lust,” wrote Chavda.

Chavda also claimed that he had brought up this issue time and again with party leaders such as Kanu Bhalala, Thakarshi Javaya, and Madha Boricha, but it has always failed to reach the PM.

Posting the letter on X, he said, “This letter has to be made public so that it reaches you, because the party is looked down upon because of the negligence and corruption of this man. The list of such acts by this man is too long, and it has brought fury to the people of Junagadh.”

In his letter, he alleged Kirit Patel…

1. In the guise of being the district president, he violated party rules with the construction of the BJP office.

2. Krishna Arcade, built by him, was a result of wrongful approval, wrongful construction, and a case of encroachment.

He said that this encroachment has brought natural calamity to Junagadh.

Concluding his letter with a question, Chavda asked the PM how can the party members face the public with such acts of a fellow party member.
