BJP yet to decide president in Gujarat, changes made in selection process
Before announcing the name of the new BJP state president in Gujarat, the party is finalising its structure. As part of this process, the appointment procedure for district, taluka, and ward presidents has been ongoing.
However, the Delhi BJP high command suddenly ordered the suspension of the BJP’s organisational election process. This decision, coupled with newly framed guidelines such as age limits for ward and taluka president posts, has caused discontent within the party.
With internal frustration mounting, it seems inevitable that changes will need to be made to the guidelines, including adjustments to the age criteria.
With the end of tenure of BJP state president C R Patil, Gujarat BJP’s quest for state president continues. During a party held in Delhi, Patil gave clear indications of stepping away from the post.
This time, BJP has introduced rules stating that only those who have been active members twice can contest for the post of ward or taluka president.
Moreover, workers above the age of 40 are ineligible to apply for these posts. This has made it challenging for BJP to find capable candidates for these positions.
