The opposition against Rajkot’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Parshottam Rupala, from the Kshatriya community has reached its peak in Gujarat, which has prompted the party’s central leadership to closely monitor the situation.

Sources close to the developments in the matter have reported that union home minister Amit Shah, as per prime minister Narendra Modi’s instructions, is set to take over control of these matters.

A meeting was chaired last night in this regard, which was attended by chief minister Bhupendra Patel, the party’s state president, CR Patil, and cabinet minister Harsh Sanghavi, along with other leaders.

No solution was reportedly derived from this meeting, while the Kshatriya community leaders have reiterated their demand for the cancellation of Rupala’s ticket.

This rigid stance has brought the party high command into action, which has reportedly appointed Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency candidate Shah to handle the matter.

The union minister is expected to discuss this issue with the enraged community leaders in person and converge on a solution.

Amit Shah is set to hold a road show in the Gandhinagar constituency on Apr 18. The party’s state faction is preparing for the stalwart leader’s visit and is rooting for the issue to cool down after he meets with the community leaders.
