Biker dies after being thrown off bridge in Ahmedabad’s Balolnagar area

A youth died after allegedly losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a bridge railing near Balolnagar, which connects Ranip and New Ranip areas of Ahmedabad on Friday morning, police said.

According to preliminary information, the rider was travelling at high speed when he lost control of the motorcycle and rammed into the side railing of the bridge. The impact was so severe that the biker was flung off the bridge and fell underneath it.

Officials said the sports bike continued skidding for nearly 20 to 25 metres before coming to a halt on the bridge. The collision also damaged the metal side sheet of the bridge barrier.

The local police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident and shifted the victim for medical examination. Authorities said the youth succumbed to his injuries, though his identity was yet to be officially confirmed at the time of reporting.

Further investigation into the incident is under way.
