A chilling incident had just unfolded where a resident of Bhuj, Ismail Manjothi,  killed wife Ruksana over marital problems, buried her, and filed a missing complaint afterwards.

Ruksana had previously filed a complaint against Ismail over the marital problems and torture. Ismail allegedly had a second marriage, which Ruksana was unhappy about.

Tired of Ruksana’s interference, Ismail decided to kill her in 2018. An accomplice of Ismail took Ruksana to a secluded place in Kutch, where she was stabbed to death. The accused buried her body and her mobile was discarded near Ahmedabad Railway Station.

Ismail created false evidence using Ruksana’s ID, and stayed in Ajmer. Later, he filed the missing person report with the police, and even a habeas corpus petition in Gujarat High Court to find her.

Based on call details and other evidence, the police interrogated Ismail, who confessed to the crime. Ruksana’s bones were found under the flooring of a new house in Kutch.

The public prosecutor opposed Ismail’s bail application, stating that it was a cruel murder and should not be granted bail. The High Court accepted the arguments and rejected the bail application.
