Gujarat board students’ summer vacation ends, schools reopen

The summer vacation has officially concluded across all schools under the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) as the new academic year 2025–26 began on Monday.
After a 35-day break, school corridors will once again echo with the voice of students. Currently, there are approximately 53,000 schools under the GSHSEB (including government, granted, and private institutions) catering to nearly one crore students from Class 1 to 12.
The new session also began in pre-primary government schools (Balvatikas). However, while some CBSE-affiliated schools in the state have already reopened, others are scheduled to reopen after June 15.
According to the new academic calendar issued by the board, the first term will run from June 9 to October 15, totaling 105 instructional days. Diwali vacation will begin on October 16 and last for 21 days. The second term will begin on November 6. The first term examinations are scheduled to begin on September 11.
All schools under the Board concluded their annual exams around April 20. As per the GSHSEB’s academic calendar, summer vacation officially began on May 5.
