Dance show in Surendranagar faces flak over performance during mourning of ex-PM Manmohan Singh
The nation and the state are in mourning following the death of former prime minister Manmohan Singh on December 26. The central government declared a seven-day national mourning period. As a result, the Kankaria Carnival in Ahmedabad was also cancelled.
Meanwhile, a video from the Global Business Expo, featuring an actress-dancer performing at a dance show in Surendranagar, Gujarat, has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism for holding such a performance at an inopportune time.
Despite the national mourning, several political figures reportedly attended the event’s inauguration, including MP Chandu Sihora, Deputy Chief Whip in Gujarat Legislative Assembly Jagdish Makwana, Gujarat BJP vice president Varsha Doshi, and the organisers of the Global Zalawad Mega Expo, Naresh Kela and Kishorsinh Zala.
The event organisers had earlier announced through a press conference that the Global Zalawad Expo 2024 would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, however the CM did not attend the event.
