Arrested AMC officer Jignesh Shah established 3 firms in wife’s names got contracts

Major revelations have surfaced in the ongoing Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigation against Jignesh Shah, a TDO/ Estate officer with the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), in a disproportionate assets case involving ₹3.07 crore.

The probe has found that Shah established three companies in his wife’s name approximately 12 years ago and allegedly used them to fraudulently obtain design and construction contracts from the AMC. These findings point to a significant misuse of official position and manipulation of the civic body’s contract system for personal gain.

During a search operation at his residence, the ACB recovered gold and silver jewellery worth ₹1.34 crore. Additionally, 17 of his bank accounts and one bank locker have been sealed.

The ACB had filed a case against Shah for possessing assets 102% more than his known income between April 2012 and March 2022. According to an ACB official, Shah joined the AMC in 2010 as a Sub-Inspector (DTDO). In 2011, he launched three companies under his wife Akruti’s name — Akruti Infra, Akruti Construction, and Akruti Developers.

He allegedly misused his position to secure AMC contracts for these companies. The ill-gotten money was invested in these construction companies, and he also purchased gold and silver jewelry worth ₹1.34 crore, which has been confiscated. Seventeen bank accounts and one locker have also been identified and sealed.

It has further been revealed that Shah made significant investments in the stock market. He has served in the west, east, and north zones of AMC and was transferred to the AMC head office in April 2025. The ACB is now set to investigate the contracts awarded to his companies by the AMC, which may unearth more details in the case.
