ANTF busts illegal marijuana trafficking racket in Gandhinagar, 2 held with 12 kg ganja worth ₹6 lakh

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Gandhinagar Zone, CID Crime, on Thursday busted an illegal marijuana trafficking operation in the Mota Chiloda area of Gandhinagar, seizing approximately 12 kg of ganja valued at ₹5.97 lakh and arresting two persons in connection with the case.
According to ANTF official, the accused had been smuggling the narcotic substance in a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) government bus, when they were intercepted and nabbed at Chiloda Chowkdi.
The police team had received specific intelligence inputs during routine patrolling in the Gandhinagar zone area, following which the operation was mounted.
The two accused arrested in the case have been identified as:
- Viraj Pareshkumar Solanki, 26, a resident of Dabhoda, Taluka Gandhinagar.
- Aditya alias 'Adi' Mathurbhai Baraiya, 22, a resident of Chanakyapuri, Gandhinagar.
The police recovered marijuana (ganja): 11 kg 940 gm, valued at ₹5.97 lakh and two mobile phones units, valued at ₹10,000 from the accused. The total value of the seized contraband and items stands at ₹6.07lakh.
A case has been registered against both accused under Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and further investigation into the matter has been transferred to Chiloda Police Station, where officers are probing the broader supply chain and possible links of the accused to larger narcotics networks operating in the region.
