Amit Shah’s wealth doubles in five years, nomination affidavit discloses

One of the prominent faces of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), union home minister Amit Shah, filed his nomination from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat on Apr 19.

Shah and his wife own ₹65.67 crores of assets, according to the affidavit submitted by him.

It is noteworthy that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, his assets were worth ₹30.49 crore, which has now increased by over 100% in the past five years.

His movable property, including cash, bank savings, deposits, gold and silver, and inherited property, sums up to ₹20.23 crore.

Out of which, he owns over ₹17.46 crore worth of shares. He also owns ₹21.84 lakh of policies and more than ₹72.87 lakh of gold and silver.

He has not disclosed any cars or vehicles in his affidavit.

His wife, Sonal Shah, has movable assets of over ₹22.46 crores of cash, bank savings, and investments in stocks, deposits of more than ₹93.11 lakhs and investments in stocks of more than ₹20 crores. She also owns gold and silver jewellery amounting to more than ₹1.10 crore.

Shah’s immovable property

Shah has a total of over ₹16.31 crore of immovable property, including agricultural land and semi-cultivated land as well as plots and houses at different places. 

He owns lands in Vadnagar and Daskroi and residential properties at Ashram Road, Thaltej, and Gandhinagar.

Shah’s wife has immovable property worth more than ₹6.55 crore in her name, including residential properties in different places.

A total of three cases are pending against Shah in different courts.

During the previous Lok Sabha elections, Shah served as the national president of the BJP.
