The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has developed a specialised software using AI (artificial intelligence) technology to automatically issue e-memos for traffic violations.
With the help of over 5,000 CCTV cameras, the police and AMC are set to keep a precise watch over the citizen’s movements, and issue e-memos for more than 30 types of violations.
The process is expected to be implemented within the next two months.
E-memos will be issued for the following violations:
- Jumping red light
- Using mobile phone while driving
- Travelling without seat belt or helmet
- Riding three-passenger on a two-wheeler
- Movement of heavy vehicles during the day
- Parking in a no-parking zone
- Driving in BRTS corridor
- Spitting on public roads
- Stray animals/cattle on public roads
- Littering on public roads
- Heavy vehicles transporting goods without covering
The technology will also be used to identify issues such as potholes or waterlogging on the roads, illegal encroachment, and broken electricity poles or footpaths in the city.
