Ahmedabad Traffic Police spreads awareness to wear helmet

As the ‘Saiyaara’ fever rages in India, Ahmedabad Traffic Police have also joined the trend. Taking to their X account, the police urged citizens to wear helmets while on a drive with their ‘Saiyaara’ using a clip from the movie.

“Going for a drive with Saiyaara?  Then make the helmet your companion too…  Otherwise, your love will remain incomplete,’ read the post of the city’s traffic police on Thursday.

The post had a video clip of actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, who can be seen holding their separate helmets in a scene. The video mentioned, “Alone or with your Saiyaara (partner), you must wear helmets”.

The movie, released on July 18, went to become an instant trend on social media, showing the audiences in the cinema halls getting emotional over the movie. By the fourth day of its release, the collection of this Mohit Suri-directorial had crossed the ₹100-cr mark.

Notably, after the Gujarat High Court’s rebuke, the Ahmedabad police and traffic police have begun a drive against traffic violators in the city.

In just six days, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police issued a staggering 9,377 challans for wrong-side driving, collecting penalties amounting to over ₹1.59 crore. The data, compiled between July 17 and 22, 2025, underscores the city’s ongoing battle with traffic indiscipline and highlights the authorities’ intensified crackdown on violators.

The highest number of violations was recorded on the SG Highway Zone-2 traffic police station, with 1,564 cases and a total fine amount of ₹27.76 lakh. It was followed by the B division traffic police station with 1,440 challans worth ₹23.47 lakh, and Zone M with 1,067 cases and fines totalling ₹18.04 lakh.
