75% Voter turnout for Gujarat education board elections

In the elections for the Gujarat Education Board held on September 24, a notable voter turnout of 75% was reported. Out of the nine available seats, six were filled uncontested, leading to elections for the remaining two seats.

The elections were held for the Primary School Teacher Board seat and the Board of Directors seat, with voting turnout of of 76.03% and 70.35%, respectively. The election process took place from 8 am to 5 pm across 58 designated centers.

In the Board of Directors election, candidates included J V Patel, a recognised candidate from the Gujarat State Managing Committee, and Priyavadan Korat from Saurashtra, who was previously affiliated with the Board. They faced competition from a candidate representing private schools in Surat.

Meanwhile, the Primary School Teacher seat saw a close contest with Divyaraj Jadeja from Kutch, Chetanaben Bhagora from Ahmedabad, and Vijay Khatana from Bhavnagar along four other candidates.

Out of a total of 6,310 eligible voters, 4,439 cast their votes, marking a successful electoral process for the Gujarat Education Board.
