4 history-sheeters in Kodinar arrested under GUJCTOC
An organised crime gang active in Gir Somnath district has been charged under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act (GUJCTOC). Police have arrested four members of the gang, while efforts are ongoing to locate the fifth member. This is the third case under GUJCTOC in Gir Somnath district in the past three years.
The gang leader, Mahesh Makwana, is wanted in a total of 10 cases, including ten against him and five against another accused, Rafiq who is MIA (missing in action).
Makwana has been under scrutiny for years for engaging in organised crime along with his associates. Following this, SP Manoharsinh Jadeja instructed the Local Crime Branch (LCB) to take action under GUJCTOC.
PI Arvindsinh Jadeja of the Local Crime Branch (LCB) filed the complaint against the gang on behalf of the government. The complaint was registered with the Kodinar police station.
Arrested gang members and their alleged crimes
Mahesh Makwana: The gang leader is wanted in 10 cases, including obstruction of duty, robbery, assault, and extortion.
Haresh Chiku alias Sidi Damaniya: This individual has eight cases against him, including violations of the Gujarat Mines and Minerals Act, robbery, and assault.
Ramesh Chudasma: Chudasma has six cases registered against him for obstruction of duty and robbery.
Munaf alias Munno Nehvi: Nehvi is facing three cases of obstruction of duty.
The search is on for the fifth member, Rafiq, who has 5 cases registered under his name.
