4.75 kg ganja seized near Chandrala bridge, Chiloda police register NDPS case

The Chiloda Police Station on Thursday seized 4.75 kg of suspected cannabis valued at ₹47,500 from a motorcycle abandoned near Chandrala bridge on the Himmatnagar–Naroda road, after two unidentified men fled the spot during a vehicle check.
According to police, a team led by Police Inspector S J Chauhan of Chiloda Police Station had deployed staff at Chandrala Check point on the highway connecting Himmatnagar to Ahmedabad. During routine vehicle checking, officers noticed a motorcycle carrying two persons with a bag slung on the side, travelling on the wrong side of the road.
Finding their movement suspicious, the police attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the rider failed to halt and sped away towards the Chandrala bridge. The team pursued the motorcycle, which allegedly veered into a smaller underpass near the bridge and proceeded along the service road.
Police said the two men eventually abandoned the motorcycle bearing registration number GJ-24-BB-3134 near a small culvert off the service road and fled on foot upon noticing the police closing in.
Upon inspection, officers found a bag hooked to the motorcycle. On opening it, they discovered a greenish-brown plant-based substance with a distinctive odour, suspected to be ganja (cannabis). The contraband weighed 4.75 kg and is estimated to be worth ₹47,500.
In addition to the narcotic substance, police seized a mobile phone worth ₹200 and the motorcycle valued at ₹50,000. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹97,700.
An offence has been registered under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the absconding accused and any other persons who may be found involved during the course of investigation.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the two suspects and ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband.
