3 Gujarat cadre IAS officers promoted as Additional Secretary by Centre

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of high-level appointments and promotions across ministries and departments of the Government of India, with senior bureaucrats, including officers from the Gujarat cadre, being elevated to key positions.

As per the Cabinet Secretariat’s order, 1996-batch IAS officer M K Khandhar of the Gujarat cadre has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.

In a similar move, Gujarat cadre IAS officer Aarti Kanwar has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles.

IAS officer Vijay Nehra, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been promoted to the post of Additional Secretary in the same department.

The ACC has also approved the promotion of Sridhar Chiruvolu, currently serving in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), to the rank of Additional Secretary.

In addition, several officers have been granted in-situ upgradation, allowing them to retain their current roles while being accorded the rank of Additional Secretary.
