₹2.8 lakh cash stolen from Ahmedabad businessman’s parked scooter

A businessman from Chandkheda reportedly lost ₹2.8 lakh in cash after an unknown thief stole it from his scooter’s storage compartment on Saturday evening. 

The victim, Niranjan Sharma, 28, who helps run his family’s rubber tube manufacturing business in Kathwada, lodged a complaint at Sola police station.

As per reports, Sharma had gone to PM Angadia firm near Vikram Plaza, Chandlodia Bridge, around 6 pm to collect cash sent by a customer from Madhya Pradesh. After securing the money in his scooter’s storage compartment, he started his journey home. On the way, he stopped near a tea stall close to Nayara Petrol Pump in Sola to have some water. He parked his scooter nearby and walked over to a pan shop.

However, when he returned after about 15 minutes, he found the scooter's storage compartment open and the cash missing. Realising he had been robbed, Sharma immediately alerted the police control room. A team from Sola police station reached the spot for inspection.

Police have reportedly registered a case of theft under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unknown accused and have started an investigation.
