19-year-old college student found dead in women’s hostel in Gandhinagar

A 19 year old college student was found dead in the women's hostel of Chaudhary College, Sector-7, Gandhinagar, on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Shivani Bhojabhai Ahir, a FY-BA student.

Shivani was a resident of Saniatar village in Radhanpur taluka of Patan district and was currently staying at the Chaudhary College, Sector 7, Women’s Hostel, for her studies. According to officials, the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide.

Shivani hanged herself on Wednesday, around 5.30 pm, using her dupatta inside the hostel premises. She was reported missing yesterday evening, and her body was found this morning, creating panic among hostel residents.

At the time of the incident, college examinations were ongoing, and further details regarding the reason behind the incident are yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, a team from Sector-7 Police Station, led by PI Gohil, arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
