Minor Succumbs to Multi-Organ Failure After Horrific Assault in Gandhinagar

A 17-year-old girl from Kalol taluka has died following a violent sexual assault allegedly committed by her 22-year-old partner at a local guest house. The victim succumbed to multi-organ failure late last night after battling severe internal injuries and systemic infection across four different hospitals for three days.

Gandhinagar Police have arrested the accused, Dishant alias Deep Bharatbhai Sharma, a resident of Pethapur, and launched a comprehensive investigation into both the assault and the guest house operations.

Assault at Capital Guest House Triggers Fatal Internal Injuries

According to police sources, the teenager had left for college last Thursday and was scheduled to visit her aunt's house in Sarkhej later that afternoon. When she failed to arrive, her anxious family searched for her throughout the night.

The following morning, the accused’s father, Bharatbhai Sharma, approached the victim's family, disclosing that the two were in a relationship. It subsequently emerged that Dishant had lured the minor to Capital Guest House in Gandhinagar's Sector 16, where he subjected her to extreme physical violence and sexual assault.

The assault caused severe haemorrhaging, which led to acute internal infections affecting her intestines and kidneys. As her health rapidly deteriorated, she was taken first to Divine Hospital in Randheja and then to SGS Hospital in Sargasam, both of which declined admission due to her critical condition. She was eventually brought to Pagarav Hospital.

The victim’s family alleged that the accused’s father misrepresented himself as her guardian to get her admitted while keeping her biological parents in the dark. Once the victim's family discovered her whereabouts, they shifted her to Advance Hospital, where doctors placed her on ventilator support due to widespread lung and intestinal infections caused by excessive blood loss. She remained unconscious for three days before passing away.

Forensic Post-Mortem Conducted; Police Probe Guest House Negligence

Following her death, Pethapur Police took custody of the body and arranged for a panel post-mortem examination conducted by expert doctors alongside a forensic team to document the exact extent of internal injuries.

The victim’s family has also raised serious questions regarding hospital protocols, alleging that initial medical facilities failed to notify the police immediately about the medico-legal case.

Investigators are now scrutinising the management of Capital Guest House. Under current Gandhinagar police mandates, all hotels and guest houses are legally required to log guest identities and Aadhaar details through the mandatory 'Pathik' software portal.

Authorities are investigating how a minor was granted entry into the establishment, with senior officers confirming that criminal charges may be brought against the guest house operators for failing to verify credentials.
