Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s production banner Excel Entertainment has reportedly sought significant compensation from actor Ranveer Singh following his exit from the upcoming film Don 3, as per reports.

According to reports, the production house has allegedly demanded damages amounting to ₹40 crore, citing financial losses incurred during the film’s pre-production phase. The project, which was scheduled to begin filming in January 2026, had already progressed deep into planning stages.

Reports suggest that Excel Entertainment had invested heavily in script development, scheduling, location scouting, and other preparatory arrangements. These expenses, along with delays caused by the actor’s departure, are said to be the primary grounds for the compensation claim.

Neither Ranveer Singh nor Excel Entertainment has issued an official statement on the matter so far. However, the development has generated considerable buzz within the film industry.

Ranveer Singh was officially announced as the new lead of the Don franchise in 2023, marking a major shift for the series. He was set to take over the role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in Don and Don 2, both of which also featured Priyanka Chopra.
