Ajay Devgn’s ‘Chauhaan’ Faces Backlash from Kshatriya Parishad

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming movie Chauhaan has sparked a fresh controversy on social media. The X handle 'Kshatriya Parishad' has strongly condemned the filmmakers, accusing them of attempting to politicise the Rajput identity and using community history as a ‘political prop.’

The controversy emerged shortly after the makers officially announced the title of the movie, which is being helmed by director Neeraj Yadav.

What did Kshatriya Parishad say?

“The Kshatriya Parishad strongly condemns the attempt by Neeraj Yadav and actor Ajay Devgn to appropriate the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics. The Chauhans are a historic Rajput (Kshatriya) lineage whose legacy belongs to history, not partisan campaigns or media controversies. We express concern over the politicization of Rajput identity and call such actions irresponsible and disrespectful," the statement read.

They added, "History reminds us of cooperation between Afghans and Rajputs: Mahmud Lodi and Maharana Sanga, Hakim Khan Sur and Maharana Pratap, Farid Khan (Sher Shah Suri) and Raja Raisal Shekhawat, Maharaja Vikramaditya Tomar, among others. The Parishad urges political actors, filmmakers, and media organizations to engage responsibly with India’s past."

Netizens React to the 'Chauhaan' Controversy

The statement did not sit well with all social media users. Many netizens quickly called out the X handle, questioning its authority to speak for the entire Rajput community.

"Who are you? Who told you to represent Rajput ?" asked a user.

"Aap log ko publicity chahiye ?? Chauhan is not JUST Rajputs many other castes too use Chauhan,” said another.
