E-commerce titan Jeff Bezos, founder and former CEO of Amazon, has officially taken control of the James Bond movie franchise.

On Thursday, it was announced that Bezos’ Amazon-owned MGM Studios will now have creative control over future James Bond films. This means Amazon will play a key role in deciding the direction of the iconic spy series, including selecting the next actor to portray 007.

The move marks a significant shift for the Bond franchise, which has long been controlled by EON Productions and the Broccoli family.

Many fans are excited about the potential modernisation of Bond under Amazon, while others worry about the series losing its classic essence.

Bezos took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, posting an article about the acquisition and asking fans: “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?”

The overwhelming response from fans was “Henry Cavill”, with many suggesting that the Superman actor would be the perfect fit for the role. Some fans also recommended Steve Barron as director and Kevin Eastman as the lead writer for future Bond films.
