A group of 108 lawyers has written a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, requesting the revocation of producer Ekta Kapoor’s Padma Shri Award.

The lawyers have demanded the revocation of the award, claiming that director Ekta Kapoor has produced content featuring obscene scenes that disrespect cultural traditions.

They have argued that her series portray content that disrespects Indian culture and wrongly depicts Indian relationships.

The lawyers reportedly claimed that the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian honor, is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their fields, not to those who have misrepresented Indian culture and negatively influenced society.

They also alleged that the content on the OTT platform ALT Balaji is obscene and unlawful, arguing that such content would not even be approved for cinema release, even with an ‘A’ rating.
