Rapper Badshah gives shoutout to ‘Samay Raina’ at concert in Gujarat

Amid the controversy surrounding ‘offensive remarks’ made during comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’, several celebrities have publicly backed the comedian, including rapper Badshah.
Badshah recently performed at a university in Vadodara, Gujarat, where he took a moment at the end of his concert to show solidarity with Raina. As he thanked the crowd, the rapper yelled out, “Free Samay Raina”. However, the statement triggered a wave of trolling on social media, with some questioning Badshah’s remarks, pointing out that Raina had not even been arrested.
The remark, however, led to mixed reactions online. Many netizens were quick to point out that Raina had not been arrested, with some commenting, “He is free! Does Badshah have new information?” One user even suggested, “If he is in custody, that’s excellent. Why does Badshah want him to be free, why is he advocating obscenity?”
Some stated that, “This is Gian, so don’t take it seriously.”
What was the controversy?
YouTuber and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, who received the Disruption of the Year award at the National creator Awards from PM Narendra Modi, was booked along with Raina by the Mumbai Police for ‘vulgar remarks’ and misusing the freedom of speech.
A complaint accuses Allahbadia, Raina, and others of using abusive language and making obscene comments about parents and women on the show.
Allahbadia engaged in a conversation with a contestant and posed a question that we would obviously not want to repeat, but would have hurt the sensibilities of many.
