Amreli Hosts Gujarat’s Grand 80th Independence Day State-Level Event: CM Bhupendra Patel Unfurls National Flag

In a vibrant display of patriotism and civic pride, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hoisted the National Flag at the Forward School grounds in Amreli on Saturday, marking the official state-level celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day.

Thousands gathered at the venue as the Chief Minister inspected an ceremonial parade, took the salute from combined contingents of the Gujarat Police, armed forces, and youth brigades, and addressed the state on Gujarat's ongoing development trajectory.

Grand Parade And Festive Prelude In Amreli

The main event at Amreli featured a parade comprising police contingents, home guards, and cultural troupes representing various regions of the state. Following the flag unfurling, air force and police helicopters showered flower petals over the gathering, while cultural performances showcased Gujarat's heritage.

The celebrations followed extensive preparations across Amreli district. On the eve of Independence Day, Chief Minister Patel visited the historic Shri Nagnath Mahadev Temple to offer prayers for the state’s prosperity. He also inaugurated a special exhibition at Samarth Vyayam Mandir commemorating 75 freedom fighters from the region—including Gujarat’s first Chief Minister, Dr Jivraj Mehta—and participated in a tree-planting drive on Savarkundla Road.

Development Push And Regional Focus

Delivering his Independence Day address, CM Patel highlighted Gujarat’s contributions to national growth, emphasizing infrastructure expansion, industrial investments, and rural empowerment initiatives aligned with the vision of a self-reliant India.

To mark the occasion of hosting the state-level celebrations, the Gujarat government sanctioned dedicated development grants for Amreli district aimed at upgrading local road networks, civic amenities, and public healthcare infrastructure.

Senior cabinet ministers, state officials, and local representatives attended the event alongside thousands of residents, capping off a series of district-wide cultural and patriotic programmes held over the week.
