Nikol Hit-and-Run Twist: Accused Viral Chaudhary’s Friend Was In Car During Incident, Fled Scene Afterwards

AHMEDABAD — The horrific hit-and-run incident that shook Ahmedabad's Nikol area on Monday night has taken a dramatic turn. Investigators have revealed that the Fortuner driver, Viral Chaudhary, who ploughed into a mother and son selling sofa covers on the pavement near Devshya Crossroads, was not alone at the time of the crash. His friend, Sager, was sitting right beside him in the vehicle.

Beer Party Followed by Reckless Driving

According to initial police disclosures, Viral—a steel engineering businessman based in Bakrol—had visited Sager’s residence earlier in the evening where the pair indulged in a drinking session. After finishing up, the two headed out in the SUV to grab dinner.

However, mid-drive, Viral felt his alcohol intake was insufficient and decided to crack open another can of beer. Steering the heavy vehicle with one hand while holding the drink with the other, he lost control of the SUV near the D-mart road at around 9:30 pm. The vehicle veered violently onto the footpath, crushing the victims.

Friend Flees Scene, Faces Prohibition Charge

While enraged locals immediately nabbed Viral from the driver’s seat and handed him over to authorities, Sager managed to slip away into the commotion and fled the spot.

The breakthrough has prompted local law enforcement to split the legal action against Sager. Nikol Police are preparing to file a prohibition case against him for participating in the drinking session and being privy to alcohol in the vehicle without intervening.

Simultaneously, the I-Division Traffic Police will treat Sager as a prime eyewitness. His testimony is expected to play a critical role in court to legally establish that Viral was indeed behind the wheel and actively consuming alcohol while driving.
