The new Regional Transport Office (RTO) complex in Ahmedabad was inaugurated on Wednesday, marking the beginning of operations from the new premises. The facility also features a new AI-based driving test track, aimed at streamlining the driving licence testing process.
Officials said all RTO-related services will gradually be shifted to the new office. While systems have been installed over the past few days, the remaining infrastructure and services will be made operational in phases before the facility becomes fully functional.
Fully air-conditioned facility for applicants
The new RTO office is fully air-conditioned and has been designed to improve convenience for applicants by housing different sections in a systematic layout.
Authorities said the building has been planned to accommodate a large number of visitors without overcrowding. Besides dedicated driving licence testing tracks, the complex also provides ample parking facilities and separate sections for various transport-related services across three floors.

The building is also equipped with lifts, staircases and modern fire safety systems, including hose reels.
More services to go live in phases
Officials said the remaining systems are being configured and will be commissioned gradually. Once the migration is complete, all RTO services will be available from the new premises.
The upgraded infrastructure is expected to reduce waiting times, improve administrative efficiency and offer a more streamlined experience for applicants visiting the Ahmedabad RTO.
