An unidentified person allegedly broke into a clothing studio located inside a party plot in Bodakdev and stole antique silver idols and other metal utensils, along with ₹1,000 in cash, police said.

The incident took place between 5 pm on August 15 and 10 am on August 16 at Geetanjali Party Plot in Bodakdev. The complaint was filed on August 20 by Jayvin Bipinbhai Patel, 32, who runs an event business from the premises.

The studio, called Studio Niva, is operated by Patel’s sister, Palak. Patel and his sister had closed their respective workplaces around 5 pm on August 15 and left for home.

The following morning, when Patel reached his office around 10 am, an employee, Rambhai Dewasi, told him that the studio’s door appeared to have been forcibly opened.

On checking the premises, Patel allegedly found the drawers open and several antique articles missing.

Silver Idols, Religious Items Stolen

The stolen items included a 126-gram silver idol of Lord Ganesha, a 99-gram silver idol of Goddess Lakshmi, a 24-gram silver glass, a 64-gram silver lamp and two silver religious coins, with an estimated value of around ₹78,000.

The thief also allegedly took antique copper utensils weighing around 18.2 kg, valued at approximately ₹23,500, and two brass vessels weighing around 1.18 kg and 1.6 kg, collectively valued at around ₹2,200.

Another ₹1,000 in cash was allegedly taken from a table drawer.

The total value of the stolen property was estimated at ₹1.04 lakh.

Police Examine CCTV Footage

Patel told police that he and his sister were occupied with social engagements after discovering the theft and therefore approached the police later.

Bodakdev police have registered a case against an unidentified person and begun an investigation.

Police are expected to examine CCTV footage from the party plot and surrounding areas and question employees and others who may have had access to the premises.
