Two Arrested in Naroda After Minor Girl Thrown Down 10th Floor Lift Shaft for Resisting Harassment

Police have arrested two men and launched a hunt for a third after a minor girl was molested and thrown down a 10th-floor lift shaft at an under-construction building in the Muthiya area of Naroda for refusing to share her mobile phone number.

The victim, who suffered multiple fractures and severe facial injuries, had visited the Shyam Upvan construction site to deliver lunch to her father, a daily-wage worker. According to the complaint filed by her father with the Naroda police, three men intercepted the girl on the 10th floor as she was walking back down after handing over the tiffin.

Trapped on the 10th Floor

Investigators said the three accused cornered the teenager and demanded her contact details. When she refused, the men seized her hands and molested her. As the girl fought back to break free, the trio lifted her and hurled her into the open, unsecured gap of the lift shaft.

She plunged down the open shaft, landing several floors below. Labourers at the site rushed her to a private hospital, where doctors are treating her for grave, multi-organ injuries and complex bone fractures.

Manhunt Underway for Third Accused

Police have identified all three suspects as migrant workers hailing from Rajasthan's Banswara district. The Naroda police registered a case charging Rahul Dodiyaar, Sureshchandra Charpota, and Dinesh Ninama with attempted murder, molestation, and relevant sections protecting minors.

Officers tracked down and arrested Charpota and Ninama shortly after the incident was reported. Multiple police teams are currently conducting raids across suspected hideouts to trace the absconding suspect, Dodiyaar. Forensic teams have secured evidence from the Shyam Upvan site, while investigators assess safety lapses surrounding the exposed lift shaft.
