Ahmedabad Creates History, Enters Guinness World Records After Planting 3.61 Lakh Trees in One Hour

Ahmedabad has created history by setting a new Guinness World Record after planting 3.61 lakh trees in just one hour, surpassing the previous record held by Assam.

The record was achieved during a mega plantation drive organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Bhadaj using the Japanese Miyawaki afforestation method. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was among the dignitaries present during the event.

Ahmedabad Breaks Assam's Guinness Record

The plantation drive surpassed Assam's previous world record of 3,31,929 trees planted in one hour, set by the Assam Forest Department under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan on September 15, 2023.

With 3.61 lakh saplings planted within 60 minutes, Ahmedabad has now claimed the Guinness World Record.

Inside The Record-Breaking Plantation Drive

The plantation was carried out over an area of nearly 91,006 square metres, with dense Miyawaki forests developed across approximately 76,000 square metres.

The site is located in Thaltej Ward near Satvam Heights, alongside the Gota-Godhavi Canal in Bhadaj.

Around 35 indigenous tree species suited to the local ecosystem were planted during the drive.

Over 25,000 Volunteers Participate

More than 25,000 volunteers participated in the campaign, including AMC officials, BAPS volunteers, CREDAI members, police personnel, NCC cadets, school students, NGOs, educational institutions, social organisations and citizens.
