Zone-Wise Tenders Planned For Streetlight Maintenance
The committee also discussed the maintenance of around 2.17 lakh streetlight poles across Ahmedabad.
Until now, a single company was responsible for maintaining the city’s streetlights. Following the completion of that contract, maintenance has been carried out through different sub-agencies.
The AMC has now directed officials to conduct a separate tender process for each municipal zone.
The committee also approved a three-month contract with Crean Engineering and Services for streetlight maintenance in the southern zone.
AMC Receives Over 500 Streetlight Complaints Daily
Streetlight outages have emerged as a concern during the monsoon, with the civic body receiving more than 500 online complaints every day, according to officials.
With religious festivals approaching, officials have been instructed to ensure that streetlights around religious places and surrounding areas remain functional.
Officials have also been directed to adopt a more proactive approach by conducting field inspections to identify non-functional streetlights instead of relying only on online complaints, and ensure they are repaired promptly.
