The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested two men and seized 9.8 kg of ganja during a raid on Narol-Naroda Road near CTM. The contraband, allegedly brought from Maharashtra for distribution in Ahmedabad, was recovered along with an auto-rickshaw and mobile phones. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹5.60 lakh.
Crime Branch Acts on Tip-Off
According to police, the Crime Branch received specific information that Mohammad Sajid Pathan, a resident of Ramol, was waiting in a rickshaw near Chunilal Park Society on the CTM service road to receive a consignment of ganja.
Police were also informed that the delivery would be made by Israel Khan, who had travelled from Maharashtra. Based on the input, the Crime Branch laid a trap at the location.
Accused Caught During Drug Deal
During surveillance, officers noticed a CNG auto-rickshaw parked at the spot. Shortly afterwards, a man carrying two bags arrived from the Express Junction side and approached the vehicle.
Police said Sajid stepped out of the rickshaw, collected one of the bags from Israel Khan, and the two began talking inside the vehicle. At that moment, the Crime Branch team moved in and apprehended both men.
Supplier Identified During Probe
During preliminary questioning, police found that 33-year-old Israel Khan, a resident of Akola in Maharashtra, had allegedly brought the ganja from a man identified as Mohsin Baba, also from Akola.
According to investigators, the consignment was meant for 42-year-old Mohammad Sajid Kamaruddin Pathan of Ramol, Ahmedabad, who had allegedly ordered the ganja for retail sale.
Police have arrested both accused and registered a case against them. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest Mohsin Baba, who has been identified as the alleged main supplier.
