Valsad Orders One-Day Shutdown of Industries as Heavy Rain Triggers Flooding

Amid relentless rainfall and worsening flood conditions, the Valsad district administration has ordered all factories and industrial units to remain closed on Wednesday as a precautionary measure to safeguard workers and the public.

The decision comes after torrential downpours caused widespread waterlogging and rising water levels across several parts of the district, disrupting normal life and increasing the risk of accidents.

Industries to operate with minimum essential staff

Under the district administration's directive, all industrial establishments have been instructed to suspend regular operations for the day.

However, units providing essential or critical services have been permitted to retain only the minimum workforce required to ensure the safe functioning of vital operations.

Officials said the move aims to reduce commuter movement and minimise the risk to workers travelling through flooded roads and vulnerable areas.

Residents urged to stay indoors

The district administration has appealed to residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and avoid travelling through waterlogged roads, overflowing rivers and submerged stretches.

Citizens have also been advised to strictly follow official weather advisories and safety instructions as the situation continues to evolve.

Emergency teams on high alert

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with local disaster management teams and district authorities, remains on high alert across Valsad.

Rescue and emergency response teams have been deployed at vulnerable locations to respond swiftly to any rain-related incidents as heavy rainfall continues across South Gujarat.
