Three Teenagers Detained in Valsad After 15-Year-Old Girl Assaulted Near Tithal Beach

Three teenage boys allegedly gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in an isolated stretch near Tithal beach in Valsad district after contacting her through Instagram, police said on Monday.

The girl's family tracked down the suspects on Sunday night after she went missing from her house, catching all three minors on the spot and handing them over to the local police.

Friendship on Instagram

According to investigators, the victim had recently befriended one of the accused on Instagram, where the two exchanged regular messages. On Sunday evening, while the victim's family members were out of the house, the main accused contacted her and asked her to meet him.

The boy, accompanied by two of his friends, picked up the teenager and took her to a secluded, abandoned area near the Tithal coastline. The primary suspect sexually assaulted her there, following which the other two boys also assaulted her in turn.

Panicked by her sudden disappearance from home, the victim's relatives began searching the surrounding areas. The family eventually spotted the teenager alongside the three suspects in the Tithal area. Suspecting foul play, they detained the trio on the spot and alerted the authorities.

Valsad police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further legal procedure and medical examinations are underway.

Local law enforcement officials noted that the incident underlines the growing vulnerabilities associated with unmonitored digital interactions among minors.

Police urged parents to maintain greater vigilance over their children's smartphone activity, online contacts, and social media presence to prevent similar exploitation.
