Schools, Colleges Shut in Dang and Valsad as Heavy Rain Batters South Gujarat

Educational institutions across Dang and Valsad districts remained closed on Wednesday after relentless rainfall battered South Gujarat, prompting authorities to declare a precautionary holiday in the interest of student safety.

The decision comes as both districts witnessed extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, with the average rainfall touching 198 mm. The continuous downpour has led to a sharp rise in river water levels, inundation in low-lying areas and concerns over public safety.

Authorities issue precautionary advisory

District administrations have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid venturing near overflowing rivers, submerged roads and causeways, where water levels continue to rise due to incessant rain.
