Fake Doctor Treating Patients Without Medical Degree Arrested in Valsad

Gujarat Police have arrested a man in Valsad district for allegedly practising medicine without a recognised medical qualification, as authorities intensify action against unqualified medical practitioners across the state.

Man Accused Of Running Unauthorised Practice

The accused has been identified as Jaykaran Prajapat, who is currently residing near Valveri Phatak in Kaprada taluka. He originally belongs to Bhatpurva Samuhi in Ghatampur taluka of Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

According to Kaprada Police, Prajapat was allegedly treating patients from a rented house despite not holding a medical degree or the required qualifications to practise medicine.

The action followed directions to identify and take legal action against people practising medicine without the necessary credentials.

The directions were issued by Surat Division Inspector General of Police Prem Veer Singh, Valsad Superintendent of Police Dr Yuvrajsinh Jadeja and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dharampur Division, Dr Sandeep T.

Police Raid Rented House

Kaprada Police Inspector D.N. Vanza was supervising patrol operations when Assistant Head Constable Ashishbhai Arjunbhai allegedly received information about the unauthorised medical practice near Valveri Phatak.

A police team, accompanied by a medical officer from the Primary Health Centre at Rohiyal Jungle and a pharmacist, subsequently raided a rented house belonging to Naranbhai Devrambhai.

Police said Prajapat was found treating patients and administering allopathic and other medicines despite allegedly lacking a medical qualification.

Authorities said such unauthorised treatment could pose a serious risk to patients' health and safety.

FIR Registered Against Accused

Prajapat was taken to Kaprada Police Station following the raid. Police registered an FIR under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 30 of the Medical Practitioners Act.

The investigation will determine the extent of the alleged practice and whether other individuals were involved.

Series Of Fake Doctor Cases In Gujarat

The Valsad case comes amid a series of cases involving alleged unqualified medical practitioners across Gujarat.

In July, a suspected bogus doctor was arrested in Dahod for allegedly treating patients without the required medical qualifications or licence.

In June, Anand Police arrested 58-year-old Nitin Dahya Parmar, who was accused of running a medical practice from his residence in Borsad for more than two decades. Police said he could not produce valid registration with the Gujarat Medical Council.

Earlier, in March, Vadodara's Special Operations Group arrested Dhaval Kawad for allegedly practising allopathy without a valid medical degree at a clinic in Gajrawadi.

Gujarat Records Thousands Of Bogus Doctor Complaints

The cases have highlighted the wider challenge faced by authorities in curbing unauthorised medical practice in Gujarat.

In March, the state government told the Gujarat Assembly that 2,724 complaints involving alleged bogus doctors received between 2021 and 2023 had been investigated.

Of these cases, 169 people were found to have fake degrees, while 154 FIRs were registered, according to the government data.

The latest arrest in Valsad is part of the ongoing enforcement drive against individuals allegedly providing medical treatment without the qualifications and registration required under law.
