Boat Carrying 7 Capsizes In Valsad’s Par River, 1-Year-Old Missing

A one-and-a-half-year-old child drowned after a boat carrying seven people capsized in the Par River near Umarsadi Machhiwad village in Pardi taluka of Valsad district on Tuesday. Six people, including a woman, managed to swim to the riverbank, while divers and local fishermen launched a search for the missing child.

Boat Capsizes While Returning From Religious Ritual

According to the information, a group of fishermen and women from Umarsadi Machhiwad village had gone into the river in four boats on the occasion of Ekadashi to perform a religious ritual.

After completing the ritual, one of the boats was returning towards the shore when it suddenly overturned while taking a turn. The incident triggered panic among those on board.

Seven people were travelling in the boat: Amul Prasad Gautam, Nanubhai, Chhaganbhai Tandel, Rekhaben Nanubhai Tandel, Ajay Nanubhai Tandel, Dhanuben Bharatbhai Tandel and one-and-a-half-year-old Moksharth Ajay Tandel.

Six People Swim To Safety

Six people, including the woman, managed to swim to the riverbank and survived.

However, one-and-a-half-year-old Moksh drowned and went missing in the river.

Following the incident, the village sarpanch, local representatives and residents rushed to the spot. Police were also informed and reached the location.

Divers, Fishermen Search For Missing Child

Divers from Chandrapur and local fishermen began searching the river to locate the missing child.

The child’s disappearance has left the family deeply worried as the search operation continues.

According to local residents, members of the fishing community traditionally take an idol of Lord Krishna to the river for a ritual bath on every Ekadashi.
