When the physiotherapist advised him to consult a male physiotherapist instead, the accused allegedly continued sending obscene material and harassing her. He also threatened to make the videos public, prompting her to approach the Surat Cyber Crime Branch.
Technical investigation leads police to Navi Mumbai
Following the complaint, police launched a technical investigation to trace the accused. The probe led them to 19-year-old Tushar, a resident of Navi Mumbai.
A Surat Police team travelled to Navi Mumbai and arrested him from his home. Police said the accused lived alone and had studied up to Class 7.
Investigators also found that Tushar had allegedly suffered an accident around two to three months ago. Police said a tattoo visible in the obscene videos helped them establish his identity.
Police probing possible similar cases
According to police, Tushar is unemployed and has no regular job or business. Investigators said he earns money through rent from properties built by his late father and by working as a real estate broker.
Police suspect that he may have targeted other women doctors or physiotherapists using a similar method. They are examining whether he contacted other women and whether there are additional complaints against him.
DCP Vishakha Jain said the investigation is continuing. Police are also looking into whether the accused had previously faced personal issues involving women that could be linked to his alleged behaviour.
Physiotherapists’ association submits complaint
The Surat Physiotherapists Association has submitted a collective complaint to the Cyber Crime Branch following the incident.
The association claimed that other women physiotherapists have also faced similar incidents involving harassment and obscene messages. Police are examining these claims as part of the ongoing investigation.
