Jana Kulan, who holds the world record of scoring 60 points individually in the women’s volleyball match, has been appointed as the new head coach Indian women’s volleyball match.

Kulan was born on July 7, 1987, in Bratislava, Slovakia and built her career as a powerful outside hitter in volleyball. In her early career, she trained in Europe’s club named Slavia UK Bratislava, which is known for structured youth programmes.

Later, she reportedly moved into professional volleyball and started playing across multiple leagues including Russia, Azerbaijan, Japan, Turkey, Poland, and China. Kulan got recognition after she played in Japan’s V. League where she made a world record of scoring 60 points in the match and also became the leading scorer of the league. Later, she represented Azerbaijan at the international level.

Kulan becomes the first foreign coach to lead the Indian women's volleyball team. Before her appointment as India’s coach, she has reportedly worked with the Czech Republic with youth and senior teams, handling both men’s and women’s teams.
