After Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declined to play the India vs Pakistan ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash in Colombo as boycott to Bangladesh’s removal from the tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has released an official response.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has reacted to Pakistan’s stand and said that BCCI will not take any further decision until there is any discussion with the ICC (International Cricket Council).

“We completely agree with ICC. BCCI will not comment on this matter until we talk to the ICC,” said Shukla.

The ICC, on the other hand, made it clear that picking and choosing matches goes against the idea of the tournament. It has taken notes of the Pakistan government’s position and is waiting for formal words from PCB.

The ICC also said that its tournaments are meant to be fair and competitive for everyone and that choosing to participate selectively goes against that spirit.

It noted that while ICC understands that governments influence national decisions it also believes this move harms the game and disappoints fans around the world especially in Pakistan.

The Pakistan government on Sunday announced that the Pakistani team will play in the tournament but will not participate in the high-voltage match to be held against India on February 15, 2026 through its official X handle.
