Rajasthan Royal’s young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history in the Indian Premier League 2026 season by becoming the fastest player to reach 500 runs in terms of balls faced. He achieved this milestone during Rajasthan Royals’ 40-run win over Lucknow Super Giant in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old reached the record in just 222 balls, breaking the previous record held by Glenn Maxwell, who had taken 260 balls. Sooryavanshi got to the milestone by hitting a boundary off Prince Yadav in the second over of the match.

However, he could not play a long innings in this game and was dismissed for just 8 runs off 11 balls by Mohsin Khan.

Talking about team performance, Rajasthan Royals had a strong start to the season with four back-to-back wins. But recently, their form has dropped as they have now lost two matches in a row. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants are also struggling, facing three consecutive defeats. Interestingly, LSG have not won any home matches this season, while Rajasthan Royals are yet to win away from home.

They were, however, able to beat LSG on Wednesday.

At the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant said the team made a few changes in the playing eleven to bring more balance. He added that the team is trying to improve and stay positive despite recent losses.

RR captain Riyan Parag said his team is focusing on playing good cricket for the full 40 overs. He also praised the batting efforts and said the team hopes to perform better in the match.

The victory lifts Rajasthan Royals to second place on the points table, while Lucknow Super Giants remain near the bottom.
