Amidst the crisis looming over the T20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also entered the fray. The Emirates Cricket Board has reminded Pakistan of its old favors and warned in clear words that the decision to boycott India could not only jeopardize cricket, but also the economic condition of smaller associate countries.

'Cricket ecosystem' in danger: UAE's letter to Pakistan

The United Arab Emirates Cricket Board described Pakistan as an 'important member of the cricket family' and said that when no big country was ready to play in Pakistan, it was the UAE that provided them with a platform to play international cricket. The board believes that the cancellation of the most watched match in a major event like the World Cup will have a negative impact on global viewers and sponsors.

PCB in bargaining mood

On the other hand, Pakistan has indirectly started bargaining to back down. According to the report, Pakistan has put forward three main demands against the ICC:

Huge increase in annual funding from ICC.

ICC should intervene to resume bilateral series between India and Pakistan.

Maintaining traditions and the spirit of sportsmanship, such as 'handshakes', during and after matches.

The final decision will be taken only after consultation with the Pakistani government. However, after the tough stance of a friendly organization like the UAE, the pressure on Pakistan to bow down at the earliest has increased.
